Still rated it a three, but am wearing on that one. Silly mystery which I am never really curious about and "smart" dialog from the Sookie. It's just plain Ok. The charm of having a new romance and an new adventure is beginning to really wear off. Love the show, thought the first couple of books were cute but the series is steadily beginning to be repetitive and dull.
I hope her relationship maturity soon aligns with her age.The series appears to be young adult with tendencies toward action and suspense, not horror per se. A weretiger, a Viking vampire, fairies, and demons collect my total attention. But there is quite a revelation about Sookie's attraction and the Stackhouse heritage. "Definitely Dead" resumes a few weeks later as the sixth in the "Southern Vampire Mysteries". I recommend this collection to any fan of the vampire genre.Thank you. Apparently there is a collection of short stories titled "Bite" covering the adventure and damages the series continuity for uninformed readers. I thought for sure I had missed something since the prior book "Dead as a Doornail" when Sookie began speaking of her dead cousin Hadley and the New Orleans vampire Queen as if the reader already knows what happened. Nevertheless I have to acknowledge the creative influx with every novel, the author introduces a new creature every time and has not disappointed so far.I like Sookie, even with her first person point of view immature outlook on relationships, but I'm more interested in the supporting characters at this time.
It explained everything that I was lost about in pretty good detail, although I still feel that there should have been more about Hadley's death and her comming over and such. Like many other readers of this book, I felt completely and utterly lost for the first 200 pages. I enjoyed this book and I'm about to start All Together Dead in just a few minutes. In the beginnings of the book, it was hard for me to keep going, because I was so confused, but I am 'definately' glad I kept on reading. I felt like perhaps I had missed something, or hadn't paid enough attention to the words before my eyes. However, towards the third quarter of the book, it got really good, really fast.
I was disappointed in this book to say the least but don't frett if you felt like me. In addition, the short, choppy chapters made reading a little dull and cumbersome. For the entire book I kept thinking that I had missed a book in the series or something. All Together Dead was much better. Harris' overwhelming desire to describe, in painful detail, what every person is wearing gets a little old at this point. I am new to the Sookie Stackhouse series.
It definitely did not have the same feel as the rest of the series and I was glad for Harris to get back to normal with All Together Dead. I fail to see why a 300 some odd page book requires over 20 chapters. I just started reading the series last week and have quickly made it through Book 7. The book did not get moving until well past page 100. While failry predictable, it had a lot more action and drama. I love the series as a whole but Definitely Dead seemed rushed or out of place.
It seemed like Harris picked up after several months of action in Sookie's life without filling the reader in but referencing it constantly.
Hadley had bequeathed her estate to Sookie before her second and final death. And there are also some tantalizing insights into Sookie's own family history that promises some exciting developments in future installments. "Definitely Dead" is Book 6 in the Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris, featuring comely Sookie Stackhouse who has telepathic ability, and who seems to attract lots of attention from other-worldly beings. So, once again poor Sookie finds herself deep in the intrigues of the vampire world, and her life threatened in the process.Quinn, Eric and Bill add confusion to Sookie's love life, though Quinn appears as a breath of much-needed fresh air here. Highly recommended for fans of the genre. This time round, Sookie has a new man in her life, were-tiger Quinn and finds herself being summoned to New Orleans by the vampire queen of Louisiana, Sophie- Anne Leclerq. Sookie's presence in New Orleans is also neccessitated by her cousin Hadley's death, who it turns out was a vampire and also the lover of the bisexual vampire queen.
